The Ultimate Hash Brownie Recipe

If you can’t be arsed to cook, check out these Smoking Mixtures instead!

Introduction

Although I do say so myself, this is the ULTIMATE Hash Brownie recipe. So good in fact, we recommend trying them without Cannabis Butter, because you’ll want to eat so many of them. They’re very moreish so take care if you do make the cannabis version — it can take up to 45 minutes to feel the effects, so don’t just eat more and more — it could get very messy! If you want to learn how to make hash brownies, this is the article for you.
Baking

Ingredients

Hash Brownies

  • 4oz (115g) Cannabis Butter
  • 2oz (60g) Self Raising Flour
  • 8oz (225g) Soft Brown Sugar
  • 1.5oz (45g) Cocoa Powder (NOT Drinking Chocolate Powder)
  • 1oz (30g) Ground Almonds
  • 2 Eggs
  • Grated Rind Of One Large Orange (Important!)
  • 1/2tsp Baking Powder

Chocolate Butter Icing/Frosting

Making icing for a cake really isn’t an exact science — it’s difficult to give amounts as you may have a different sized baking tray meaning more or less brownies, or you may just have a different personal preference. The following amounts are a guideline so feel free to tweak as you wish!

  • 4oz (115g) NORMAL Butter or Margarine
  • 1 — 2oz (30 — 60g) Cocoa Powder
  • 8 — 10oz (225 — 285g) Icing (Powdered/Confectioners) Sugar
  • 2tsp Water, as needed
  • Maltesers (optional, but totally worth it)

Equipment

  • Kitchen Scales
  • Sieve
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Shallow baking tray
  • Greaseproof paper / Wax paper

Method - Hash Brownie Base

  1. First, sieve the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the ground almonds, sugar and orange rind and mix together well.
  3. Next, add the butter and eggs and beat the mixture together until smooth.
  4. Bake at 150ºC (300F or Gas Mark 2), in a shallow dish, greased and lined with greaseproof (wax) paper for 50 — 55 minutes.

Method - Chocolate Butter Icing/Frosting

  1. Just mix together the ingredients in a bowl and spread over the top of the brownie.
  2. As an optional tasty extra, smash up a couple of packets of Maltesers and sprinkle them over the top. Do this straight away so they will stick in the icing rather than just fall off when you try and take a bite!
  3. Cut into at least 16 pieces and serve! If it’s your first time cooking with cannabis, be sensible and don’t have more than one or two in the space of an hour, no matter how absolutely fantastic they taste.

Enjoy!

i was just wondering if making the cannabutter makes a smell…
one that would make it obvious that there is weed in it…
    thank you
    =]

  2. Synchronium says:

Yes, it will smell quite a bit. Ventilation is key!

  3. Steph says:

    thank you
    (Y)

  4. EMT says:

are the Almonds needed? Asking because of potential peanut allergies etc…

And same thing with the orange peals… it says its “Important” so that means even if i want to i shouldnt leave them out does it?

And also a queery with the cannabutter: Whe “Leaving it for an hour, or untill it harderns” Is that to be done in the fridge?

    Thanking you in advance :)

  5. Synchronium says:

EMT: I’m not sure about the almonds. I guess you could try making a batch without cannabis and almonds in and see if they’re alright. The orange peel is important for taste, as it really sets these apart from any other brownies.

As for the cannabis butter, yes, you can let it cool in the fridge, but in general, it’s best to let hot things cool on the side first before you put them in the fridge. If you don’t, your fridge motor has to work harder than usual to keep everything cool.

  6. EMT says:

    Another question:

How long should we expect the THC to stay alive in the brownies? Keeping in mind that it will be in sealed containers and probably stored in a fridge/freezer untill they’re to be eaten.

    :)

  7. Synchronium says:

    Not sure.

You could always multiply the quantities by seven, then you’d have enough brownies to take two each week for a year. As soon as they start to become ineffective, report back and share your wisdom!

    :)

  8. sleaze says:

almonds arent actually a nut so nut allegy sufferers should be fine with it

  9. Synchronium says:

    Peanuts aren’t actually nuts either.

Regardless, apparently people with nut allergies can be fine with almonds, so I’ve heard since…

  10. Angela says:

    Hello,
I’m allergic to nuts, and i can’t have peanuts or almonds. Anything with the word nut in it actually.
    Except doughnuts.
I guess its down to sensitivity or something.
Anyway, thanks for the recipe the brownies are possibly the yummyest thing ever, and they work fine without almonds!

  11. E. says:

I’m so trying this! i’ll let you know how it goes ahhaha.

  12. alex says:

can you smell the weed in it

  13. nick says:

Say if I wanted to make brownies out of an ounce of bud..

Would I be able to make the cannabutter and just mix it in with brownie mix from the store? Also, if I wanted to make hash cookies could I just use the cannabutter and add it to any cookie recipe?

  14. Kenney says:

does anyone have an idea of how much hash to use in the butter to get these brownies to give you a proper high?, I’m talking about full-body, crazy chilled, awesome high

  15. caroline says:

i reckon you should put as much hash as physically possible into 4 oz of butter.…

  16. Abifail says:

emmmm can i use weedbutter for the icing xD

  17. matt says:

how many brownies might this recipe provide?
and how many should be eaten to get sufficiently high?
    haha

  18. sierra says:

i usually buy a brownie mix (betty crocker) and blend it in a blender or food processor with about an oz of bud. you have to blend it real real fine and it taste awesome and gives you that full body experience. if you have the means it also helps to use a really crystalized bud since they contain the most thc

  19. Rachael says:

Im not a big fan of frosting… will they taste good even without the frosting or will they be dry?

me and 2 other friends followed this recipe preccisely and didnt get stoned after eating the whole batch between the 3 of us. would this be because we smoke alot of bud mayb our tolerance to it is high and we need to put in more bud to the recipe or do you think maybe we went wrong somewhere in the process of making it?

  44. John says:

Someone asked about hash pizza here…yes you can! I make hash ghee and then use it for the dough! i got a recipe if your interested http://www.thecannabischef.com

  45. charlotte says:

gave them a try and they stink the house out!! but are good (Y) havnt tried it yet tho :P

  46. john says:

here’s something interesting. i don’t like chocolate flavoured with real oranges. i really like earl grey tea because of the bergamot in it. bergamot is a citrus fruit. i know it goes well with chocolate because i’ve tried chocolates with earl grey tea infused in them. you lot say how important orange is in this, but i don’t want it.
so how about scrapping the orange, and when making the cannabutter, either adding a little bit of bergamot oil into the mix just after straining the solid matter out before leaving it to set, or, because apparently you can infuse butter with it the same way as you do with cannabis to make cannabutter, adding some loose earl grey tea to the mix when making the cannabutter?
when i get round to making some, i’ll do one of those, probably the latter, and get back to tell you what it’s like.

  47. stephanie says:

  50. stephen says:
